Ceramic & Sculpture
The Ceramics and Sculpture Workshop “Petros Roukoutakis” was created in 1990 by the late Petros Roukoutakis, the only Greek blind sculptor, giving the unique chance to blind and visually impaired people, the newly-blinded and especially the visually impaired with other disabilities, to develop their touch and their dexterities.
Ceramics and sculpture is the only of the visual arts that can give to a blind person a cognitive experience, creative expression and development of the imagination to complete the personality. At the same time, it allows the development of skills of their most sensitive tool, their hand and through a totally creative and team experience it contributes to social bonding.
The creations of the participants are displayed for sale in the small shop in the Tactual Museum and in periodical exhibitions organized by the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece and other organisations.
There was a remarkable collaboration with the Benaki Museum in Pre-Columbian Art report Gontikas collection, as well as a cooperation and participation in the exhibition "Imprints" in the Vorre Museum and the Association of Social Responsibility for Children and Youth (SKEP), in a Water themed and a Nature themed exhibitions in 2009 and 2010 respectively. The involvement of children and young and visually impaired people was an unusual experience with very positive results.
The workshop is equipped with wheels, a kneader, a press and two ovens.

There are 3 classes for the implementation of the courses, renovated and fully equipped and the departments are configured according to the level of pre-existing knowledge.

Traditional Dance
The Traditional Dances Courses of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece, one of its kind in the country and one of the few in the world, is a great cradle of culture, offering the chance to the blind participants for training in local dances from all over Greece and at the same time social interaction, strengthening the spatial perception and improving mobility.
It consists of young and older dancers with vision problems and since 2013 it has developed an enriched activity through the organization and participation in events throughout Greece, in collaboration with other cultural-dance clubs for the visually impaired and the disabled, as innovative and creative partnerships that simultaneously raise awareness of the wider community.
Indicatively, there have been collaborations with the Greek National Opera, the Lyceum Club of Greek Women, the College of Athens, various Municipalities and various cultural associations, with the "Dryades on Board" in Karditsa and so on.

Latin Dance Courses
This is a relatively newly created Department of a highly creative and artistic character, which offers the visually impaired participants the unique chance of engaging with this type of dance.
The meetings take place throughout the year and the participants are trained and prepared for presentations, either at cultural events taking place in the Lighthouse’s premises or in terms of their participations in dance festivals –interacting this way with sighted dancers too.
This group has already been awarded in dance competitions, such as the 8th Mediterranean Open Dance Cup (the Bachata and Duo Latin teams won the first prize in their category).
